ITDC India ePress/ITDC News Madhya Pradesh Desk Bhopal: A national workshop will be organized in Bhopal next year to better understand and facilitate the harmony of art education and art integration in the school curriculum. Sara Vetta, founder of the Indian Art and Design Educators Association, Chennai, said this information in a conversation with art teachers.

Talking to black teachers in an informal meeting organized by the Art Design Teachers Association, Madhya Pradesh, Sara said that the National Education Policy developed by the National Council of Educational Research and Training (NCERT) has given special attention to art education. Preference has been given and suggestions have been made for the inclusion of art in other subjects as well, which are not being implemented adequately in North India as compared to Southern states.

Art teachers, school principals, teachers of other subjects as well as NCERT, CBSE teachers will participate in the proposed workshop. Experts will also be invited and a thorough investigation will be done on art in school education and improvement will be recommended by highlighting the discrepancies.

Sara also informed about the special workshop for art teachers to be organized in Kochi Biennale and invited all art teachers for the workshop to be organized in Kochi on 15-16 February 2023. Many art teachers including Sunil Shukla, art teachers Suchita Raut, Zeenat Siddiqui, Bhavna Chandra, Saba Iftikhar, Mita Johar Dutta were present in this meeting.
