Rana couple expected to meet Shah, Om Birla today

BMC team is likely to visit their residence in Khar on Monday

ITDC INDIA EPRESS/ ITDC NEWS MP Navneet Rana and her husband MLA Ravi Rana are taking to Delhi their crusade against the Uddhav Thackeray government in Maharashtra.

The couple had been arrested for attempting to chant Hanuman Chalisa outside Uddhav Thackeray's private residence on April 23. They got bail on May 4.

Media reports said Navneet and Ravi Rana will travel to Delhi on Monday and are expected to meet senior officials. Ravi had told mediapersons on Sunday he would meet Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah.

Republic TV reported the couple will meet Shah and Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla.

BJP leader Ram Kadam told Republic TV “Mrs. Navneet Rana is an honourable member of the Parliament representing over 20 lakh people. Her husband Mr. Ravi Rana is a member of the legislative assembly. So meeting home minister is a routine visit. When Shiv Sena goons attacked them, the Centre had given them protection. We support their issue on Lord Hanuman Ji...”

Zee News reported the couple would brief officials of the ministry of home affairs about being mistreated by the Maharashtra government while in custody.

BMC to visit residence

A team of officials of the Brihan Mumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) is expected to visit the residence of the Rana couple at Khar in Mumbai on Monday. The BMC claims there was a complaint of illegal construction in the building in which their apartment was located.

Ravi Rana claimed the BMC probe was part of vendetta politics. On Sunday, Navneet had claimed she would campaign against the Shiv Sena in the upcoming BMC polls. The Shiv Sena has administered the BMC for the past two decades.
