ITDC INDIA EPRESS/ITDC NEWS R Union Home Minister Amit Shah will now visit Jammu for two days instead of his earlier schedule of a one-day tour. Shah will hold a high-level review of the security situation and development works in Jammu and Kashmir with Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha, top brass of Central armed police forces (CAPFs), Jammu and Kashmir Police, intelligence agencies and civil administration. Shah will reach Jammu and Kashmir on Friday.

The visit was initially scheduled for only one day but has been extended to two days due to other important commitments.

He will be reaching Jammu on March 18 afternoon and will be the chief guest on the first ever Raising Day celebration of the CRPF in Jammu on March 19 and return to Delhi in the evening that day.

The CRPF Raising Day event will be held at MA Stadium and will be addressed by CRPF Director General Kuldiep Singh, who has already reached Jammu along with other top officials of the para-military force.

This is the first time that the CRPF is celebrating its Raising Day outside the national capital.

Some senior officials of paramilitary forces and intelligence agencies will also be reaching Jammu before the home minister’s arrival.

Shah’s visit coincides with a spike in the targeted killings of panchayat members and two security personnel who had come home on leave in Kashmir.

Shah will hold important review meetings with top security officials of the UT.

He will be briefed by senior security and intelligence officials about the security situation in Jammu and Kashmir.

This is his second visit to Jammu and Kashmir in the last five months. In October last year, he visited the Union territory for five days and reviewed the security situation, the attacks on minority community members and developmental works and other issues in Kashmir and addressed a rally in Jammu.

Of late, the BJP has increased its focus on Jammu and Kashmir. Recently, BJP national president J.P. Nadda visited Jammu on March 7 and interacted with the party’s leaders and workers in the UT and urged them to start preparing for the upcoming polls in the UT. Prime Minister Narendra Modi is also scheduled to visit J&K on April 24 on Panchayati Raj Day. He will be interacting with members of the Panchayati Raj Institutions (PRIs), launch industrial investments and initiate various development projects, including the launch of industrial investments.
