ITDC INIDA EPRESS/ ITDC NEWS Union Home Minister Amit Shah, who arrived in Manipur on Monday night for a four-day visit, held meetings with the delegations of the different political and civil society organisations in Imphal to work up a peace formula.

"Held a meeting with a group of women leaders (Meira Paibi) in Manipur. Reiterated the significance of the role of women in the society of Manipur. Together, we are committed to ensuring peace and prosperity in the state," Shah tweeted.

The minister will also visit riot-hit Churachandpur and has also scheduled talks with representatives of both the Meitei and Kuki communities. Shah had already met chief minister N Biren Singh, his cabinet colleague, and intelligence and security officials.

Sources said Kuki leaders and MLAs, many of whom left for neighbouring states, may be flown in for talks with him. Kukis have been demanding a separate administration for districts they live in, failing which they have also asked for President's rule to be imposed on the state.

The meeting has decided to take steps to augment supplies in Manipur and to bring down the prices of essential commodities. Ever since the violence broke out, the prices of essential commodities have skyrocketed in the state.
