ITDC INDIA EPRESS/ ITDC NEWS The J&K Police has identified the domestic help of Director General of Prisons H K Lohia as the main accused in the latter's murder. Lohia's body was found in his residence at Udheywalla on the outskirts of Jammu Tuesday.

The police said initial investigation into the incident revealed domestic helper Yasir Ahmad, a resident of Ramban, as the main accused. CCTV footage from the incident site also shows him  running away after committing the crime.

Ahmed has been working at Lohia's residence for nearly six months. Sources said the investigation revealed he was aggressive and had been suffering from depression.

The police added that there was no terror angle in the primary investigation, but a thorough probe has been initiated to rule out any such possibility.

Officers have also recovered the weapon used to commit the crime besides evidence reflecting the accused's mental state. A photo of Ahmed has been released, and the police have requested public help to nab him.

According to reports, Lohia's body was found with his throat slit.

An IPS officer of the 1992 batch of erstwhile Jammu and Kashmir cadre, presently AGMUT, Lohia served in J&K for many years before being on Central deputation. He returned to Jammu and Kashmir this year in February as Additional Director General of Police and was posted as Commandant General in Home Guards/Civil Defence/ State Disaster Response Force (SDRF). He was later promoted as the Director General of Police and was posted as DG Prisons in August.

The incident coincides with Home Minister Amit Shah's arrival in Jammu last night for a three-day important visit to the union territory.
