ITDC INDIA EPRESS/ ITDC NEWS Earlier in September, autorickshaw driver Vikram Dantani from Ahmedabad hogged limelight when Aam Aadmi Party convener and Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal visited his home for dinner. There was high drama before the dinner as the police had tried to prevent Kejriwal from traveling in an auto, citing protocol.
On Friday, Dantani was spotted wearing BJP cap and saffron scarf at a public meeting of Prime Minister Narendra Modi in Ahmedabad.
“I have been a Modi fan ever since I started voting,” 27-year-old Dantani said. “How can you tell 'no' to someone if he says he will come to your place for dinner,” he asked, while talking to a section of the media.
He claimed that his family and the people in the area that he lives are BJP supporters. His house comes under Ghatlodiya assembly constituency of Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel.
Dantani, who had attended Kejriwal’s town hall with autorickshaw drivers, said he went to the event to speak about the problems faced by the drivers.
He claimed that the autorickshaw union asked him to invite Kejriwal for dinner. During the town hall, Dantani asked the Delhi CM if he would come to his house for meals like he did in Punjab. Kejriwal promptly accepted the invitation and on the same night went to have dinner at Dantani’s house along with AAP local leaders.
Gujarat unit president of AAP Gopal Italia alleged that this is yet another example of what the BJP has been doing in the country. He was referring to the saffron party attracting MLAs from different parties either by coercing them or luring them. “When it can happen with lawmakers, this autorickshaw driver is no exception,” he claimed.
