ITDC INDIA EPRESS/ITDC NEWS R Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan took stock of preparations for ambitious Cheetah translocation in Kuno Palpur sanctuary in Sheopur on Sunday with Union minister for environment, forests and climate change Bhupender Yadav.

The visit of the senior leaders comes ahead of the visit of Prime Minister Narendra Modi to Sheopur on September 17, his birthday. Modi will formally release the eight Cheetahs coming from Namibia as part of the inter-continental translocation project, on the occasion.

Also the PM will address a women’s self-help group (SHG) event in Karahal of Sheopur on the same day. The CM also took stock of preparations for this event with Yadav, union minister for agriculture and farmers’ welfare Narendra Singh Tomar, MP BJP president Vishnu Dutt Sharma and other people’s representatives and officials.

“Today I visited Kuno sanctuary and took stock of the enclosure and other arrangements there for Cheetah translocation along with union minister for environment and forests Bhupender Yadav. Kuno sanctuary is now fully prepared to welcome the Cheetahs. Bringing in Cheetahs from other continents and settling them in Kuno Palpur is the biggest incident in the history of wildlife in this century. This is an unprecedented moment for Madhya Pradesh in the inspirational leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi ji,” Chouhan tweeted.

He further said, “the prime minister is arriving in Madhya Pradesh on his birthday. The state is filled with happiness and excitement for the arrival of the PM and we are eagerly awaiting his arrival.”

Pay attention to malnourished kids: Kamal Nath

MP Congress chief Kamal Nath meanwhile attacked the PM and the CM over the event. Talking to media persons in Bhopal, Nath raked up the issue of the recent nutritious food scam and said that it will be taken up in the monsoon session of the state Assembly.

“However I want to highlight that according to the report of year 2021, Sheopur has come forth as the district with highest malnutrition. About 21,000 kids are malnourished and 5,000 severely malnourished in the district. Sheopur also leads in the nutritious food scam and rather than paying attention to malnutrition issue, Modi ji and Shivraj ji are organizing an event there. They should talk of malnutrition and nutritious food scam there. First, malnutrition should be eradicated, scam should be discussed; Cheetahs could be released later too,” Nath said.
