ITDC INDIA EPRESS/ ITDC NEWS Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar will expand his two-member cabinet on Tuesday, six days after he took oath along with deputy Tejashwi Yadav. According to reports, the RJD, the largest party in the grand alliance, will get 16 cabinet berths while Nitish's JD(U) will get 11.
According to NDTV, two MLAs from the Congress, one from Hindustani Awam Morcha and one Independent will also take oath as ministers on Tuesday at a ceremony to be held at Raj Bhavan around 11.30 am.
Nitish is expected to retain all his ministers in the previous government, barring one.
Earlier, Congress sources had indicated that the party was looking for four ministerial berths in the new government.
Though there has been no indication about the allocation of portfolios, reports suggest that Nitish is likely to retain Home while Tejashwi is likely to get Health, Finance and Road Construction, which was part the BJP's share.
The new government will face floor test to prove majority in the legislative assembly on August 24.
Kumar had taken oath on August 10, a day after the JD(U) snapped ties with the BJP-led NDA and joined hands with the RJD, the Congress and some other parties to form the Mahagathbandhan government.
