Srikar Bharat, playing the first match of the season, got out in the second over itself. David Warner (19), who was in tremendous form, lost his wicket trying to increase the pace of runs. Meanwhile, captain Rishabh Pant  was getting good support from Mitchell Marsh. Anrich Nortje (3/42) was the most successful bowler for Delhi.

Playoff possibilities for CSK

From here CSK will have to win the remaining three matches. After this, the results of the rest of the teams will also have to be depended on. At the same time, Delhi's hopes have got a setback with this defeat. They have 10 points from 11 matches with five wins and six losses. The team is currently in fifth place and will have to win the remaining three matches.
