During the Oscar ceremony 2022, famous Actor Will Smith slapped the Comedian Chris Rock after he made a joke about Jada Pinkett Smith’s hair loss condition. All of this happened, when Chris greeted her by saying “Jada, I love you. G.I. Jane 2, can’t wait.”

The reference was given to Pinkett’s shaved head because of a medical condition called Alopecia with a famous movie G.I Jane in which the actress Demi Moore shaved her head.

Initially Will also laughed on the joke but when her wife rolled her eyes and seemed upset, he walked up to the stage and slapped Rock. “Oh wow, Will Smith has just smacked the s**t out of me “blurted Rock.

At first, this seemed like a staged incident but when Will asked Rock to not take his wife’s name, everything became perceptible.

Though, the incident was bleeped out in the delayed broadcastings. It was heard by more than 100 countries when it was live telecasted. Afterwards, when Will went to receive the Best Actor award for the film King William, he apologized the Academy and fellow nominees for his assault except Chris Rock. Late Sunday night, the Los Angeles police department shared that they are aware of a slapping incident that took place during the Academy Awards. But they could only probe into the matter if a complaint has been lodged. Strangely, Chris Rock chose not to press any charges against Will because of which it didn’t turn into an issue of law and order. The opinions about this matter remained debatable between comic boundaries and intolerance towards acts of violence. But the whole situation majorly weighed against the actor because Chris Rock’s joke was bad but Will’s reaction was worst and he eventually had to publically apologize to Chris.

With this, the Oscars Ceremony 2022 became the most controversial Award Ceremony of Academy after the 2017 envelope misplacement controversy. Even the social media witnessed an outrage with memes flooding across the world and #willandchris and #willsmithslap trending on twitter.
