ITDC INDIA EPRESS/ITDC NEWS R Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan was seen in his typical mass contact mode on Tuesday as he attended the tribal fest of Bhagoria in Thandla of Jhabua district with his wife Sadhna Singh.

The chief minister also promised a bunch of facilities to the residents of Jhabua and in particular Thandla on the occasion.

Dressed in traditional attire, both the CM and his wife danced with the tribals to the accompaniment of traditional musical instruments. Bhagoria is one of the traditional tribal festivals in Jhabua-Alirajpur region of western Madhya Pradesh where traditional fairs are held at different villages in the run up to the festival of colours – Holi.

Chouhan and wife also took part in Bhagoria’s Gair (procession) and interacted one-to-one with some of the tribal people attending the fair.

The traditional fest could not be held for the past two years due to Covid-19 restrictions and on Tuesday, Chouhan asked the people to fully enjoy the fairs as the pandemic was totally under control in MP at the moment.

Speaking on the occasion, Chouhan said that all possible efforts will be made for the development of Thandla and Rs one crore will be given for the purpose. Every village and every house in Jhabua will be provided clean drinking water through tap connections under the Jal Jeevan Mission, so that women don't have to carry water from hand pumps. For this, a provision of Rs 550 crore has been made, the CM said.

He further said that the government was there to ensure happiness in the life of tribal people. CM Rise School will be opened in Thandla and water from River Narmada that has reached Alirajpur district will reach Jhabua district soon.

Member of parliament Guman Singh Damor, Jobat MLA Sulochana Rawat, Laxman Singh Nayak, Kalsingh Bhabar, Sangeeta Vishwas Soni, Gaurav Khandelwal, Bunty Damor and other public representatives along with Divisional Commissioner Pawan Kumar Sharma, Inspector General of Police Rakesh Gupta, Deputy Inspector General Chandrashekhar Solanki and Collector Jhabua Somesh Mishra were also present at the programme.
