Priyanka Gandhi briefly interacts with Akhilesh Yadav on a Lucknow-bound plane

ITDC INDIA EPRESS/ ITDC NEWS Congress general secretary Priyanka Gandhi Vadra and her party's former ally in the 2017 Uttar Pradesh assembly polls, Akhilesh Yadav, interacted with each other on a Vistara flight to Lucknow, on Friday.

This is reportedly their first interaction post the 2017 poll debacle.

An aide to the Congress leader said the meeting between the two leaders was "cordial."

A picture that someone on the flight had taken, and has now been widely circulated, places two two leaders in the same frame.

The Congress leader was on her way to Uttar Pradesh to flag off three 'pratigya yatras' from Barabanki on Saturday.

According to Hindustan Times, the two leaders told each other that they should have have met sooner.

Uttar Pradesh is scheduled to go to assembly polls in early 2022.

The Congress and the Samajwadi Party had joined hands in 2017 assembly polls to take on the saffron party. The alliance could not yield the desired result, resulting in Yadav's decision to break away.
