ITDC INDIA EPRESS/ITDC NEWS R The SSLC examinations in Karnataka will be held on July 19 (core subjects) and July 22 (languages), between 10.30am and 1.30pm.

Announcing the dates for the exams in Bengaluru on Monday, Primary and Secondary Education Minister S. Suresh Kumar reiterated the need to conduct the SSLC exams as it enables the students to choose the right stream in the PU level.

This year, the SSLC exam will be held on two days. The core subjects—mathematics, science and social science—will be held on the first day and the three languages on the second day. OMR sheets will be used for the exams as there will be multiple choice questions for 40 marks in each subject.

"Last year, our effort to conduct the SSLC exams was well received and well appreciated. This year again, we intend to conduct the exams even amid a pandemic as we want the students to choose their preferred stream in the PU level," said Kumar.

As many as 8.76 lakh students are expected to appear for the examinations, which will be held across 73,066 examination rooms (higher than last year's 47,000 rooms).

A special provision has been made to facilitate the students who have migrated away from their schools due to the COVID-19 pandemic to write the exams at a centre closer to their current residence. The hall tickets will reach the centres by June 30.

The exams will be conducted as per the SOP given by the health department. The students with COVID symptoms will be allowed to write the exam in a separate hall. Even COVID-affected students will be allowed to appear for the exams at COVID care centres. All the officials involved in the examination process will be vaccinated within a week.

Every examination centre will have a health check-up kiosk for thermal screening. Each room will have no more than 12 students. The scouts and guides, ASHA workers and paramedical staff will be deployed in each examination centre.
