ITDC INDIA EPRESS/ITDC NEWS Health Commissioner Shri Akash Tripathi has said that by identifying the symptoms caused by black fungus infection, prompt treatment should be ensured. He said that proper identification and control of diabetes will have to be done in all Covid suspected, confirmed patients as well as recovered, discharged Covid patients. Instructions have been given to all Chief Medical and Health Officers, Civil Surgeons, in-charge Covid Hospitals and deans of medical colleges to ensure proper treatment of patients by staying alert to diseases caused by black fungus.

The state government is also seriously trying to prevent black fungus. Chief Minister Shri Shivraj Singh Chouhan is also reviewing it daily during the corona review. Units have been set up by the state government in Bhopal, Indore, Gwalior, Jabalpur and Rewa medical colleges in the state for free treatment of black fungus infection. These include experts from the Department of Medicine, Department of Ophthalmology, Neuro Surgery and Ear, Nose and Throat Department.

Health Commissioner Shri Akash Tripathi has issued guidelines to prevent the infection of black fungus. He said that diabetes should be monitored and controlled daily in the confirmed patients of Covid-19 as well as patients suspected of Covid-19 and those who have been cured of corona. In patients who are being given steroids according to medical advice, daily monitoring of random blood sugar levels should be ensured at an interval of every 8 hours. Under no circumstances should steroids and broad spectrum antibiotics be given unnecessarily or improperly. Sterile or distilled water should be used in the humidifier bottle for oxygen supported patients and change the water regularly. Oxygen masks, cannulas used for patients should be sanitized regularly. Protocol should be fully followed for the control of infection in hospitalized Covid patients.

Symptoms of infection

Identification of Black Fungus Infection is done from symptoms like discharge of black particles or black leakage from the nose, mouth and eyes of the patients, nasal congestion, pain in the bones of the cheeks around the nose, pain in face, persistent headache, pain in jaw, teeth, eyes, fever, body turning bluish, difficulty in breathing, chest pain, water filling in lungs, vomiting of blood, bad smell from the mouth and mental confusion.
