Clay Modeling and Gond Pradhan Painting at Design Camp of NID.

ITDC INIDA EPRESS/ ITDC NEWS:  Our sympathies are expressed by the spontaneity and love of the tribals and by connecting with them we can become good artists. This was stated by renowned artist Devilal Patidar to the participants of the Gond Pardhan painting workshop being organized in collaboration with SpiceMacke at the Design Camp of National Institute of Design. He said that tribal artists depict their life, customs, lifestyle, tradition etc.

While many modern artists are not able to do anything meaningful leaving their environment and trying to do something different. This workshop is being conducted by Padmashree Durgabai Vyam and Subhash Vyam. Durgabai narrated a tribal story of the owl and the peacock and got the characters drawn.

The first session on the fourth day of the design camp was clay modeling in which the participants practiced centering, wheel work and coiling techniques to make pots. This was a new experience for the participants. Today's cultural presentation was by Margi Band of Vihaan Drama Works, in which they presented drama music, poetry and folk songs.
