75 accused sent to jail for black marketing of Remdesivir injection and oxygen

ITDC INDIA EPRESS/ITDC NEWS Chief Minister Shri Shivraj Singh Chouhan said that those involved in black marketing and adulteration of essential medicines, oxygen and Remdesivir injection should not be spared in the state. Strict legal action should be taken against such persons and they should be sent to jail. As per the instructions of Chief Minister Shri Chouhan, so far 75 persons have been sent to jail by the district and police administration by taking action against them under NSA in cases of black marketing of Remdesivir injection. In addition, 6 accused were arrested and sent to jail under the Prevention of Black Marketing Act and the Essential Commodities Act.

According to the report received from the Home Department, in cases of black marketing of Remdesivir Injection action under NSA has been taken in 9 cases in Indore, 9 in Ujjain, 4 in Gwalior, 4 in Jabalpur, 4 in Shahdol, 2 in Bhopal, 2 in Dhar, 1 in Mandsaur, 1 in Chhindwara, and 1 case in Ratlam district, thus the Home Department has confirmed a total of 37 cases.

Besides, 30 NSA orders in Indore and 8 in Bhopal were issued by the concerned District Magistrate in the black marketing of Remedesivir injection and a total of 38 accused have been arrested and sent to jail.

Under the Essential Commodities Act and Prevention of Black Marketing Act, a total of 6 accused have been arrested and sent to jail including 2 in Jabalpur, 2 in Ujjain and 1 in Sagar for black marketing of Remdesivir injection and 1 in Satna for black marketing of oxygen. The NSA has provisions for the arrest and imprisonment of the accused for 12 months and in the Prevention of Black Marketing Act for 6 months.

It is worth mentioning that on the instructions of Chief Minister Shri Shivraj Singh Chouhan, instructions have been given by the Home Department to the Collectors and Superintendents of Police for strict and speedy action under the NSA against those who have been doing black marketing of Remdesivir injections, oxygen and other essential medicines.
