ITDC INDIA EPRESS/ ITDC NEWS West Bengal BJP unit president Dilip Ghosh has tested positive for COVID-19.
Ghosh was on a tour in Burdwan this week after a series of events organised across Bengal. On October 8, he took a lead in BJP's Nabanno Chalo agitation programme. He is the first leader to be infected from that rally.
After returning from the Burdwan trip, Ghosh on October 12 cancelled all appointments. He then tested for COVID-19 and was found positive.
Around 8pm on Friday, Ghosh had high fever along with drowsiness. He was shifted to a private hospital in Kolkata's Salt Lake City.
Senior leaders of the BJP from Delhi called up hospital authorities to find out the condition of the Bengal BJP chief.
Hospital sources said, “Ghosh was stable and he was having high fever. All kinds of medicines are being tried.”
The state BJP president had planned a slew of events just ahead of Durga Puja, one puja of which would be organised by state BJP for the first time in Salt Lake. Prime Minister Narendra Modi is supposed to inaugurate the Durga Puja of BJP next Tuesday.
"Yes, there were many other programmes that have been hampered," said a state BJP spokesman.
Ghosh used to be nonchalant about COVID-19: Most of the time, he was found not wearing masks, be it in Delhi or in Kolkata. The Midnapore MP is all set to lead the BJP's massive campaign after Durga Puja.
