ITDC INDIA EPRESS/ ITDC NEWS Earlier this week, Prime Minister Narendra Modi interacted with members of the film fraternity, as part of an event titled 'Change Within'. Many of Bollywood's celebrities including Shah Rukh Khan, Aamir Khan, Kangana Ranaut, Imtiaz Ali, Ekta Kapoor and Boney Kapoor were present.
The initiative was organised to promote Gandhian ideologies on the 150th birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi. The focus of this initiative was to invite film personalities encouraging them to make films and television shows that speak about Gandhi and his principles.
The event, however, seems to have upset actors from the south who feel they were neglected for this interaction. Actress-turned-politician Khushbu Sundar expressed her disappointment in a tweet. “Would really appreciate if my pioneers and peers who have made South Indian cinema a pride of the country, are invited and shown same respect as I feel they rightly deserve it. Expecting @PMOIndia to look into it,” she wrote.
Telugu actor Ram Charan's wife Upasana Kamineni also took up the matter on Twitter, stating that the south film industry was completely neglected.
Except for Khushbu and Upasana, none of the major actors from south cinema have voiced their opinion.
